Privacy notice
Who is responsible for your information
Tradeloop is the responsible party for the personal information collected when you trade in a device, register at a store or ask for an online estimate.
Our Information Officer is not named yet. Contact them with any question about your information or to use any of your rights below.
What we collect and why
- Your name, ID number and a photo of your ID document, to confirm who you are and that you may sell the device, as the Second-Hand Goods Act requires.
- Your mobile number and email address, to send your receipt and voucher, a sign-in link if you ask for one, and the messages you choose.
- The device's details, serial number or IMEI, to check that it is not reported stolen and to keep the register the law requires.
- An email address or mobile number you give with an online estimate, only to send that estimate, remind you before it expires and show it when you sign in.
We do not take a photo of your face, and we do not use your information for marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep your ID details and contact details for 5 years after your last completed trade-in, as the law requires. After that we remove what identifies you and keep only the amounts and the voucher records. An online estimate's contact is removed once the estimate expires.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that send our messages and host our systems, under agreements that protect your information, and the police when the law requires it.
Your rights
You may:
- ask what information we hold about you and get a copy of it
- ask us to correct it
- ask us to delete it, where the law does not require us to keep it
- object to how we use it
- complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforeg.org.za
Signed-in customers can see and download their information and ask for its deletion in the portal.
